173 acres of the Georgia International Horse Park have been designated as a nature preserve devoted to the preservation and study of native plants and wildlife including Bald Rock Meadows (200 acres), The Big Haynes Creek Nature Center (with pond), The Glen (10 acre field bordering Yellow River) and The Steeplechase event field (13 acres with gravel parking lot).
The Big Haynes Creek Nature Center opened to the public in 2007. The Nature Center features a canoe launch, observation platforms, informative signage, birdwatching blind, pollinator garden, outdoor library, outdoor classroom, a boardwalk in the northern portion of the woodlands, and Bluebird and Butterfly Trail in the Bald Rock Meadows area. More than five miles of trails wind their way through the nature center to accommodate hikers, mountain bikers and horse enthusiasts.
The Park contains 15 miles of multi-use trails for horses, hiking and running with 9 miles of single-track mountain biking trails.
